these are the two major ways to present a product.

For example. A man walks home, after a hard days work, goes to the sink the tap breaks, slips on some water, the dog walks in and chews his pants and then the tv explodes. What could that have to do with anything? then you see the famous logo of BlahBlah Insurance.

That is an example of Indirect Advertisement. What is insurance for? for having a way out of bad situations. therefore suddenly once the product shows up the relevance is shown.
although some commercials use indirect Product advertisement in a bit more of an abstract way.

take the aformentioned scenario, and then replace. the insurance company with Kellogs corn flakes ending, and tony the tiger busting in saying "theeeerrre great"! suddenly your thinking "what the ..." Either way works. Because an advertisement is meant to stick in your head.

Direct Product Placement is meant to do the same thing but with less obscure methods.

Green Giant Corn adverts will probably have corn, and the green giant logo throughout the advert. etc. etc. But while t hese adverfts are more Mundane they stick in our head for other reasons. recognizability.

A car commercial, a car driving around on a road. the basics of every car commercial. Why do they make car commercials this way? recognizeability. You see a car, u see a road. you think, Car commercial. So when you see it. you begin thinking, what kind of car? why is it in this location aposed to the other locations other cars have been shot in etc. and so that commercial sticks in your mind not entirely because it stands out, but because it doesn't. it becomes more of a in the back of your mind thing.

thats the jist of two major Advertisement methods.


E.G. Of a somewhat Indirect approach to a car commercial. The Famouse Honda Car Commercial!(indirect because while it is about a vehicle we are not sure which vehicle or if it is about the vehicle itself, or maybe about the parts of the vehicle. possible a car repair company. etc etc.)
